Jim Lawrence - Stunning retail showroom with factory and offices
The Problem
Jim Lawrence makes and retails top-end architectural ironmongery from their base in Suffolk, and in order to expand they needed to establish a larger factory in Hadleigh.
They also needed to arrange all new office administration space and create a larger showroom in order to display their extensive range of lighting and furnishings.
The unit was suffering from from having very little cosmetic or structural improvements made on it since it's construction in the 1980's. In order to make the unit work for Jim Lawrence, it also needed space planning, modernisation and even asbestos removed.
The Solution
TWP Designs planned and executed the entire transformation of the old unit into a stunning modern showroom. The refurbishment work alone was a huge challenge, with the spaces of the old 1980s building having to be dramatically opened up, windows and doors renewed, and asbestos removed by our approved Asbestos Surveyors.
To keep within the budget, the ceilings were painted black and a feature made of the visible service ducts and air-conditioning.
TWP Designs’ heritage in cabinetry allowed us to, not only produce a magnificent space in which Jim Lawrence can expand, but it also allowed us to individually design and construct exceptional display areas unique to this retail environment.
Special solutions were found to display the lighting without the masses of cables being visible. Deceptively simple display tables house the cables in their legs and hollow tops, paneled walls have hinged fronts to reveal wiring, and even the circular lamp stand has a hollow base. TWP Designs opened up the front of the retail unit providing a welcoming entrance and shop front. We also organised the planning permissions and designed and fitted the external signage.
