Xstrata Media Wall - Project management of the design and installation of a media wall including an 103" plasma screen
The Problem
This job was a major logistical challenge since the 103” plasma screen was so large and heavy, it could not be brought into the building via the normal front door and stairs route.
The Solution
TWP Designs quickly realised that the only solution was through a 5th floor window, and that a crane was needed. We made arrangements for the road closure and the date booked.
To ensure there were no last minute hitches, a dress-rehearsal of the window removal was carried out a week before.
On the Friday afternoon, we dismantled all the furniture in the access room, removed the internal partitions, and lay a hardboard cover over the entire delivery route.
Very early on the Saturday morning, the crane arrived, the road was sealed off and the delivery team swung into action. It all went perfectly, and by 11am the road was back to normal, the partitions re-built and the plasma screen safely installed.
